Annual Appeal Story

Hi, my name is Anita, fulltime therapy dog at the Jacksonville Ronald McDonald House and this is Gianna, one of 20,000 children I have met there.  She has a rare medical condition that requires frequent medical appointments in Jacksonville.  Gianna and her family have stayed at the Jacksonville Ronald McDonald House more than 24 nights so far.

It’s my job to make kids happy. I know that sick kids, and their brothers and sisters, need a lot of love.  That’s why it makes me happy when children laugh when I wag my tail or when I lick them. I know that it must be hard for a Mom of a sick child to be away from all the support she has at home.  That is why I lie quietly and let Moms pet me when they are sad. A Dad can feel pretty helpless when his baby is in the hospital, so I help them relieve some of the stress,  rough—housing and playing catch with them in the courtyard. Volunteers bring dinner every night of the year, for the families staying at the Jacksonville Ronald McDonald House, so I sit under high chairs hoping for crumbs to fall. (They usually do! )”

I  love my job, but I’m just a dog.  It’s people like you who really make these families smile by supporting  the programs of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville. Please donate today and I’ll be ever so grateful. My tail is already wagging  thinking about how nice you are!

Woof , Woof!

Anita
